This is my favourite fish Inlecypris auropurpureus, which means golden-red cypridnid from Lake Inle. Looks nastsy but actually very peaceful. Think a school of 100 in a 5ft tank would be fantastic. Apparently the LFS calls it a Tiger Rasbora, even though I don't usually go for common names but in this case I'd make an exception

Very difficult fish to shoot, the body sheen is a nightmare for lighting control. I think my sifu would give me an A for this

    Inlecypris auropurpureus (Annandale 191

    Wow

    What a nice picture!

(Would you tell us a little bit about your secrets of shooting this kind of tiny and fast fish?)

    Nonn, what’s the problem? Just face north-west and keep walking… and walking… and walking… and walking… and walking… and walking… and walking…

T.H. the secret is, as some religious book keeps saying, “let there be light…”

I have a flash from the top of the tank so that I can have enough shutter speed to freeze the fish. By the way this is not a small fish, about 3-4 inches long.

Other than that, an inexhaustible supply of patience and oodles of good luck

    Nice fishy...
i've finally got a cheap flash but i know, i know choy, i'll pay more in long run because the battery is non-rechargable and it is expensive to replace. (Choy keep reminding me of the battery cost and it made me feel so stupid to buy it) I just hope that the pictures will turn out as good as those you took with the add-on flash.

Tried the flash at last on my Atyopsis gabonensis. Easier as it does not move much

    Internal flash

    Internal flash-close-up

External flash used- close-up I guess the difference is quite obvious from the top picture

Can DIY batteries is it is NC type. Because the voltage/current is standard. Just connect them in S & P. Unfortunately, you flash will look like shit thereafter.

NC is Nickel Cardium, old fashion type. Now mostly used for cordless phone only.
