Dear all,
I'm sure many of those affected will not be able to access the net or read this until much later.
Wifey just called me at the lab, informing about the power failure throughout Choa Chu Kang estate, another friend at the apartment block noted that even the street lights are out, and yet another reminding me of my 24 floors' worth of stairs!!
I received a SMS from a friend in Woodlands (another northern estate)... it's dark there too.
My response to one of the many SMS'es that followed was;
"It's gonna b one starry starry nite. No Tv, no PC, no leylio*... make luv lor!"
*leylio = radio
An equally quick reply... beep beep beep...
"It's gonna b one starry starry nite. No Tv, no PC, no leylio... And no mood or energy too!"
Folks, excuse the lingo (it was SMS)... just wanting to share some 'dark' humor
Anyway, something fish related... what do you do with canister filters after a power failure??
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,
Ronnie Lee

Ron, the news said something about the CCK power substation tripping. Anyway, I was lucky I wasn't affected. Didn't even know there was a power failure until it popped up on the news.
Fish.. Simply Irresistable
Back to Killies... slowly.
Hi Ron,
Bt Panjang was affected also. I was also not in a good situation when the lights went out.....I was just starting to shower! The last time that I experienced total darkness was in Brunei jungle training. Yes, the street lights were out and also the traffic lights! Luckily last weekend I bought 2 big candles from IKEA, phew!! Well, it makes me feel like I was staying in a rural kampong....continuing my bath with a candlelight.
There were also a lot of people without a single source of light that doesn't require electricity or battery power, like candles, lighter or even matchsticks. I think we Singaporeans really take things for granted, always think that there will be electricity and water anytime you need it. It also makes me wonder how vulnerable we are, if terrorists were to make their moves. Just blow up all the power stations and communication facilities and we'll be in total chaos. If communications and power breakdown, I wondered how is the Army going to activate?
Cheers!
Darren
Hi Darren,
When? was it with me? I still remembered that at that time, I broke my glasses and was excused from all the trainings after that. Now, I will even have problem to go into the APV with my increasing body mass!!!The last time that I experienced total darkness was in Brunei jungle training.

The papers did report that a few districts were affected and that's one big circuit trip!Originally Posted by darrenlum

One interesting observation tho. My Mrs was pretty worried about how the fishes will cope, without air and circulation... and that's a good sign. I should have told her that all the tanks can go without power for a day since the fish load is light, with a large surface area per fish. Not using canister or UGF filter would also reduces the risks of bacteria colony going south.
The fact that we need to buy unprocessed water from our neighbours shows how dependent we are on good relations, and while I shudder at the thought of how things can go wrong, you'd be surprised at the resilience and strength, when a nation moves in unity. Never under-estimate the human spirit. It also makes me wonder how vulnerable we are, if terrorists were to make their moves.

Hi Pohsan,
I only went there once(thank GOD!), and so did you right?
Anyway, that was tough but good 2 1/2 years together.
Hey! your baby is very cute! Snap more photos whenever you can. Your children will be grateful to you next time.
Cheers and keep in touch!
Darren
