Hi, folks,
You've heard of Silicon breasts but have you heard of Silicon Moss?
A couple of months ago, when I wrote the post "Mosses and the men who love them", I posted a picture of some Java Moss that was growing on the corners of my tank, on the silicon. Here's that picture:
It started off with a few strands but now it's a big bunch. Here's how it looks now:
You're not a Moss grower until they grow on your silicon

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

I'll pay you $50 for that!!! Cheaper than a hair transplant for me
I let a ball of java moss grow until it filled a 10g, when I pulled some of it I found that it had anchored between the silicone and the glass like that. I left it though I worry a bit that it might compromise the seal of the tank someday. There's a pair of SJO in there now.
Hmm, I'll be surprised if a little bit of moss can damage the silicon. I was, in fact, hoping that the moss will extend its growth to cover the whole strip of silicon at the corner of the tank.Originally Posted by promethean_spark
