    Hi all,

I know I have go over board.

Did anyone try the following tissue culture hormone for aquarium plant ?
    - Auxins
    - Cytokinins / Zeatin
    - Gibberellins

Did not mention the Ethylene as it is more for flowering.

Most of the usage can be located in the following url
    http://www.plant-hormones.info/index.htm

    Thanks

    Hi,

Yes, I have tried the three plant hormones you mentioned for growth.
They produce an awesome effect. I used about 10 drops of gibberllins first when I planted my tank. This was to improve root growth.
Gibberllins got me bright green leaves.

Zeatin and auxins again 10 drops only increased the size of leaves tremendously.

These hormones were dosed twice at weekly water changes, and one at a time. The effect lasts for about 4 months, with increased fertilisation.
By which time my newly planted tank had settled down and I never used them again.

Ethylene I don't know as a hormone only as a monomer

I had been using them for quite sometime. Before AZOO plant hormone was lunched here in Singapore, I tried plant hormone meant for tissue culture on planted tank. The results were disastrous as the concentration was simply too high. (the cost too!) Ludwigia inclinata turns white, Tonina Sp mutated to semi translucent and so on….

I got myself 3 bottles of AZOO plant hormones and was really happy with the results. However I noted that one of the recommended concentration wasn’t accurate. (I can’t remember which) It could be a typo error. It should be 1ml for 50l of water instead of 50 gal.

I tried the hormones with Tonina Sp and found that the number of side shoots had increased. The size of the Tonina’s “Crown” had also increase by at least 20%. The only setback is stem plants become leggy.

The type of hormones use are not mean for all type of plant and inface it has side effect. As nobody have document the protocol and the amount of portion to be used.

For some aquarium plant it will simply melt even in a very small amount.

The AZOO hormones are not a lab/Research grade and in certain way it should be quite safe to use.

Wow, interesting way to modify the plant growth. I will try it too.
