    Hi all,

I' m new to this forum and I was reading the posted messages, really interesting.

I wanted to know if anyone on this list knows about S. papilliferus sex ratio. Simpsonichthys species are know for their skewed sex ratios, producing much more females than males (to the contrary of Nothobrachius ssp.)
Today I was counting my papilliferus juveniles and results that I have much more males than females, a sex ratio of 3:1. Does anyone know what can be the cause of this? My water conditions are PH 6.8, DH 3º, KH 2º and temp. 22-24ºC.

    regards,

Welcome to the forum Raf. pH, temperature and on occasions, the number of fry per raising tray, can affect the eventual sex ratio. In your case I would say that pH may have played the role in determining the sexes. Again, this is a wild guess as many other factors do come into play with regards to annual killies.
