    Hi there,

E-ballast are easier to DIY due to the fact that it does not need a starter to start the light. Try to follow the diagram on the ballast to connect. There is no polarity mean + or - on the FL or PL itself try getting the source wiring correct and all shall be done.

For mine is power(main switch) in to the ballast red and black different points then out with four wires for the four points of the PL lamp.. if FL then two wires out to each end ... it should light up just like that. Happy DIYing

    Also try searching the forums.

    Geoffrey,

Your post looks like you intend to build an e-ballast. Or have I read it wrong?
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

    diy e-ballast?
do you have the circuit diagram?

    a few things to consider.
    1) this involves working with ac, which is dangerous.
    2) the voltage involved is about 600vac, e-ballast for mh lamp requires 3kv(worst case)
    3) needs good knowledge of power electronics
    4) equipment required
    5) need to fabricate pcb(printed circuit board)

at the end of the day, it may not be worth it, considering the effort and the risks involved.

you'll need both electrical and electronic engineering knowledge to attempt this diy.
