I was sent this week a package with some java moss and narrow leaf java fern to aquascape my 5g cube. Tha plants arrived in great shape from the hobbyist who sent it to me, but more importantly the java moss had gametophytes/capsules! And not just a few, but many of them!

It looks like java moss or java moss look-a-like for all the world. If it is java moss, this is really important! The plant was grown submersed with no-CO2, no fertilization, under moderate lighting and good water current.

    Carlos,

Would you know where the moss is originally from? If it's Java, the professor would be very interested in examining the capsules. Do you have a pic to show us?

    Loh K L,

I am not sure where it is originally from, but I will try getting a picture to you guys sometime in the upcoming week. I've used most of it for my layout, but I left some aside just in case it should be sent (or not).

Better yet, I'll send you a general sample with lots of capsules.

I don't have a digital camera. I would have to borrow it.
