Hi guys, feel silly aking this question, but want to introduce some corys into my 4 ft planted tank. have about 50+ malayan, cherry and tiger shrimps; glosso covered substrate, 50 cardinals and 20 rummy noses. don't think the tetras will affect the corys much, more worried if the corys will upset my plants [] anyone?

    no issue with corys
unless your plants are so weakly rooted that cories will dig them up, they'll do just fine in there

I have at least Ten Corys in MyTank. Not a single plant get rooted.
If still worries you, introduce them 1 or 2 wks later for a newly planted tank.

    Hi,

If you have newly planted plants like Glosso, japonica, e.tennules or any small plantlets, then there is a chance that you will see them floating up unless they have secure their roots onto the gravel.

Next is that if you plants like Riccia, you can forget about seeing them pearling as your corydoras will disturb them and whatever small bubbles form will ending floating up to the surface.

Other than that, they are great fish that helps to clear up your food and dig up those little Tubiflex worms that landed onto the gravel (if you feed them live tubiflex worms) before they get themselves way down into the gravel.

For me, I had 20+ corydoras and they happily swims everywhere in my tank.

In my tank, the foreground has a very thick carpet of e.tenellus and the corys don't seem to like it. I guess they can't dig around the gravel since the tenellus is so thick. So they tend to just hang around the back of the tank, and I don't see them as much as I would like

Time to thin out the tenellus methinks []

    eggz,

I think you will need the kuhli loaches to help you clear off all the debris that falls into our tenellus bush.... []

I have 10 of them (bought at 10c each) and they love hiding underneath!

10c Kuhli loaches? Where? I have about 7 of them together with some cories. There's thick tenellus too, but no big issues.

I find cories suits planted tank as the can clear of the leftover food on the ground. Rotting food matters can be kept to a minimum.
    Cheers!!

NinjaFly, thanks for the tip, where did you get them for 10cents!? Didn't think you can get fish for 10 cents these days, even feeder fish aren't that cheap!

Thanks guys. Glad to know that. My glosso's 3 months old, growing thick and over each other [] gotta prune soon...

My riccia is attached on my log far above the substrate, so unless the corys swims up to the log, I shouldn't be worried right?

Simon, so you mean keeping open spaces for the loaches or corys?

I have the cory Stebai x 6 in my 4 footer.

They are great hunters (for food) but cannot compete with others. So, I wet my pallets till it sink in a cup before pouring them into water. That would sink enough food for them. Alternatively, get the cory pallets which other fishes do not seems to like it.

Yar, need not worry so much but they do swim and disturb them once a while.

Take a sharp lookout at those shops selling feeder fish. Sometimes, they do have fish like zebra/kuhli loaches/platys etc....

They told me they use those "snake" fish to let the LH chase them, but I bought them to keep instead....

They have grown a bit bigger now.
