Hi, someone from AKA have responded to my mail on request of Diapteron deal. The following is the reply.

Anyone know this friend and keen to help organizing mass order?
For those have seen photo of Diapteron, i don't think i need to say anymore.

For those who are new to killies, Diapteron is the most beautiful killie (to me at least) and the price in auction normally went beyong 100 $USD.

I recommend only the few top breeder try this out as it is very tough assignment. But I am ordering 1ws each. Not that i am good, just that i don't mind giving it a try.

    The Photo:
    http://www.killifish.f9.co.uk/Killif...A.abacinum.htm
    http://www.killifish.f9.co.uk/Killif...A.georgiae.htm

One point to note is that. Diapteron is a very challenging species. Demand best water quality. 18-22C temperature and small mouth to eat only smallest most nutritious food.

If i have to choose only one species to keep due to lack of space. This would be it.

    Kee Hoe,

Have you dealt with the breeder before? If you haven't, I would suggest caution.

    Hi Kee Hoe,

I suggest you drop the idea. The eggs will take at leat 3 - 4 week to reached Singapore. My experience is I can guarantee the the egg will be already dead upon reaching. Even I tried getting eggs from the States with express shipping, the eggs just can't take the heat in Singapore.

For your info, I've tried several times and never did I succeed even to get the eggs to survive the incubation even when some eggs arrive already fully developed. For you're info they're small in nature and very difficult to breed even for those pro who have being handling killifish for years!

Since you already know that this species need cold water, do you have the full prove plan on providing they the basic requirement they need? Either you keep them using a chiller or a air-condition room running on 24/7.

I suggest you reconsider as I've mentioned, the eggs may not be able to survive the hot weather here let alone the fish.

/.\ i have not dealt with him before. I email out a lot of AKA member to find information on Diapteron and one of them reply.

Mmmm I remember Loh have a very powerful chilier..... Even if i can't keep, having it in one of our forumer tank that i can frequently visit would wet my pillow. It is my dream. But, I don't have Air-con bill in my dream though.

I guess i will just have to put it on hold unless i am travelling there.
(working in travel agent have advantage hohohohoh)

Mean while dream on with my EXO egg. ~^.^~

Actually I think otherwise. You never try you never know.
If you think it worth the effort to bring it in why not.
Pay more for the overnight shipment make it even more possible.

A drip setup system is possible to maintain a good quality water. Diapteron habitat in goban is swallow water around 2cm deep one can build a electronic chiller to chill the water.

Ronnie, if you reading this sorry I am stuck with lot of work/project.
I have the electronic chilller done with the temperature sensor/controller that I pass to you. Haven't had time to take the picture.

    cheers

I've tried once too, received eyed-up eggs but the eggs just disintegrated after a few days. The journey is the real problem before you can even start raising them. No doubt you can try, but I suggest you can find a seller closer to Singapore. This species is just way too difficult.

Jaroslav is a excellent breeder and knows what he is doing. I think you can order with some level of confidence. His prices are also quite reasonable.

You left out the fact that the males are astonishingly vicious for such delicate-looking little fish, and will readily kill the females as well as any male competition. If you are very good at breeding fighting strains of Bettas, then you will know what to do. Otherwise, this is a prime reason many fail to keep them going.

Maybe i can buy it and have someone keep them for me and post photograph of it.

    Wright, remember the god-father thing?

I heard it would take near 4 weeks for the egg to reach singapore if i order from him.

Receive 5 bag of egg today. Together with david's order, should keep me off the topic for another few month before my killie finger itchy again.

Amount the 5 bag, Aphyosemion Exigoideum "Ngoudoufola" , Austrolebias nigripinnis "Ibicuisito AF" 02/1 and Notho. Eggersi Ruhoi River TAN 98/12 are the most interesting

    /.\ sad.

    Yeah W-right, I wonder who'll be Kee Hoe's hero!

Although I adore Diapteron, I'm not well prepared to attempt them yet. As is, some have sank good money into the species without even seeing a wriggle, so ya bet I'll be cautious.

Wright, I didn't know that these little buggers are aggressive! Always thought of them as colorful and cute, but I suppose plenty of mops and plants will provide ample refuge.

Kho, no need for apologies. I've been tied down with other things as well and have not even open the controller package [not like I know what to do with it ]

What I did try was a drip system, using a defunct BBS hatchery dripping onto an aluminum plate that's cooled with an AC fan. I managed to hit a sustainable 23ºC with it but the evaporative rate was quite shocking.

It worked on a shallow-tray setup but anything holding more than 3" of water is a different story.
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,
    Ronnie Lee

Don't bet on it. Some rocks and logs and cages with bars might help.

    They are truly mean!

Think of what we tend to call "plakat" and some call round-tail Bettas. That wouldn't work for them, either. They are bred to kill.

Condition a pair in separate containers, until they are anxious to breed. Put them together for a day or less and then separate them before he chews her tail off. I have kept a pair in a heavily-planted 10G tank, but didn't know how lucky I was. They are way too expensive to take chances, and the female-killing problem is one reason. The cold-fresh-running water requirement is another.

I think a bunch of young, raised together in a large tank, may be OK, but that is also true of fighting Bettas.
