Just got meself the Nutrafin flipper. And set up the diy CO2 soln.
There are already fishes in my planted tank so I was just wondering how long and by how much would the CO2 affect the PH value? Would the fish be able to take it?

The pH drop depends on the amount of CO2 that your set produces and the KH of your tank water. The duration should be 24hrs, since you can't really turn it off.

You must do this now-> test your tank water's KH. It must be at least 2KH (actually 1 is enough, but its very hard to tell the diff between 1KH and 0KH using the usual kits we get). This is to buffer (i.e. limit) the amount of pH change due to CO2 injection. If you don't have a testkit and can't get one soon, raise your KH by 1 ASAP using baking soda, just in case. Click here for the dosing instructions.

Once you get the test kit, read this article by Chuck Gadd and use the chart to adjust you KH to get the pH you want. Remember, you can easily raise KH, but not easily lower it.

    Thanx for the info vinz!

Just to clarify, the link mention adding 1 teaspon per 50l to raise to 4dkh. Since I want to raise to 2 dkh would I would use 1 teaspoon to 100l?

Try to raise your kH slowly. It's quite OK to raise 2dkH in 24 hrs but I would do it 1dkH in 24 hrs.

Juz be on the safe side to prevent fish shock.
    Cheers!!

Yes... thats one flat teaspoon, not heaped teaspoon.
