Hi ppl........juz wanna know can we u an undergravel filter in a planted tank?????coz i've read sumwhere tat using an UGF will trap in ur fish waste n xces food in the gravel which will lead to the ammonia buid up....cqan sumone enlighten me.....thnx 4 the help

I have done UGF - "Planted". Base Plate smaller than tank base to allow slot space for large plants with it's original basket. Maybe can put fert in the basket.
For my case, medium size gravel. No base fert. Liquid Fert only.
I also have some plants w/o the basket for location not near the slot.

I had heard of reverse UGF which actually provide better water circulation for you tank, it also sort of blow up the waste so that your other filter medias are able to "capture" them. But I dun think either is possible if you are using fine gravel or sand.
