starve it with insufficient light so it will "grow towards the direction of the light source" ?sounds stupid, but hey
my rotala indica seems to like to curl.. doesnt grow upwards straight.. how do i make it grow straight upwards??
it looks kinda messy now with all the twist and turns each stalk makes.. oh ya mine is the emersed form.. top part converting to immersed liao..

ok will try reducing the amt of lights!
Sure it is Rotala indica? I haven't seen that kind of growth in my Rotala before.
There is a Rotala sp "Green" which shows this kind of growth form -- twisting and curling rather than growing upwards. Its leaves are green.

are you sure? if it is red in colour and the leaves grows in pairs per node, it is rotala sp. red. A red form of the rare green variety.
rotala indica is pink in colour. 3 or 4 leaves per node.
why not trim them, when they grow and become bushier, they will look less messy.
hope this helps.
