what bubbling are you refering to? Plants?
If so, I seriously think your lights not enough for the plants...
I'm having a 4ft tank and already using 4x40FL and 4x36PL... I would assume those used to bubble wildly are plants at the higher level.....example your back ground plants.... Have you shifted you lights recently to the front?

My back ground plant are low light plants so they seldom bubble, but mid ground plant used to bubble wildly in the late afternoon or evening.Dunno why it suddenly stop.

What are your mid ground plants? Rooted into substrate or not? Made any changes to the tank recently, new equipment, etc?

Possiblities, a nutrient that isn't in your liquid fert but was present in your water has been depleted. Ca is one such nutirent that is not often included in liquid ferts. But that's just an example... it may not be the culprit cos Ca is present in tap water and depending on your plants consumption rate, it may or may not be enough. A way to test this theory is to do a normal 25% to 30% water change. If the bubbling starts up for a few days, then stops again...

Another possibility is depletion of nutrient from your base fert. JBL states on its product webpage for AquaBasis that it has enough Fe in it to last about 6 weeks. After which, it should the tank should be supplmented with either a substrate or liquid Fe fert.

Now you just need to figure out which nutrient is missing from where.

What liquid fert are you using and how much are you dosing? The light you're supplying now is indeed low. This should be the culprit.

BTW, which plant is it you're talking about?

your plant lights are pretty low... does your tank get any afternoon/evening sun? If so, could it be due to a change in weather? i.e. more clouds less sun?

How long have the light tubes been utilized? If it is more than half a year to 1 year, maybe it's time to change the tubes.

Use to bubble wildly... for how long?

I have 144W over my 3ft and plants are bubbling 'wildly' too. Until recently when i dosed some medication, growth seems to halt and BBA tried taking over. The plants are doing fine again with 2 water change after the treatment period..

So, did u doing something similiar? Long time no water change might be another cause.

Anyway, just wondering, will anchor worms eventually forms a transparent lump on the fish body?

    Budak,
If you says ppm, how do you convert to ml/liter?
    Thanks

    Use this site' calculator:

    Nutrient dosing

for instance, I find 1.5 teasppon of KSO4 with 800 ml of water will add 24 ppm to my 3 ft (48Gallon) tank.

Ok this is a shot in the dark - perhaps more plants have established themselves and taking in more CO2, thus, your higher plants which used to bubble do not have enuf CO2 to bubble. Up your CO2 and tell us if it works. []

But I agree that your lights a bit on the low end, my 4ft using 220W

    Hi all,

I most agree that my light is a bit low but it really hard to get a 5 ft light casing so i intend to sell away this 5 ft tank n buy a 4ft tank.

btw dosing 30ppm of K will make the plant bubble again?

Potassium (K) acts as a vital catalyst in photosynthesis. Of course you need sufficient light and CO2 to accompany it...... but I found that since I starting dosing 20-30 ppm weekly, even the Java fern bubbles.
