is that instantly die or take couple of days before it die? water parameter? tank size? How many cardinal and Otos? Did you just dump in your yamato from the bag?

I'm using ADA Amazonia as well but never face such issue. I do Acclimatize it using dripping method before introduce it to the tank.
The possibilities that I can think of are due to water parameter shock, too much bioload and predator. Cardinal and otos should be ok, left with shock or too much bioload.
Thanks Shadow. I'll introduce again and see how.
I didn't do the drop method but took some water from my present tank and mixed it with water from their original tank, left them for a few hours. They died after a few days/weeks. I'm very reluctant to put anymore into my tank. Feel guilty.
few days/weeks then it might not due to shock.
it must be water conditions. The problem is what is causing the water to be unsuitable for the yamatoes
copper level, Ammonia level, seachem flourish excell. Just guessing here, that is why need more info on your water parameter and fert dosing regime.
for me, there is not fertiliser. I think its the amazonia.
I dun think so bro...I'm using Amazonia too...everything's just fine. Is your tank cycled? Has a stable temperature? Everything has to be stable for shrimps. Or course as bro Shadow mentioned, copper, ammonia levels plays an important role too. Slight of those...it's "bye-bye shrimp".
You have C02 injection? A spike can kill them like a plague.
Yes I have CO2 injection. I lowered it to 1 bubble per sec and they still graduall died. I think if it was overdosed, the rest would have succumbed too. Thanks anyway for your thoughts. Much appreciated.
My experience when I increase C02 injection is that the Yamato will go hyperactive and turn slightly blue. After which they will look like they have a seizure and their legs with fold inwards like dying cockroaches.
After that they are eaten by my Ghost Shrimp that is still hanging around like nothing is happening. My fishes will be gasping for air just below the water surface.
I think Yamato shrimp has a lower tolerance I guess.
Yamotos isnt as hardy as alot of aquarist deem them to be. Which LFS have you been buying them from ? And at which point in your maintainence do you find them dying ?
Hi guys,
I have just introduced 5 yamatoes a day before yesterday and another 10 yesterday. They seem ok so far. But I shall not speak too soon. Will update on this issue. Maybe its just time for the water to stablize.
Thanks for all the response.
it may due to the temperature of your fish tank.
I was told by PolyArt of Clementi, Yamato is best to keep below 29 temp.
U need to have a fan.
yup i agree with warrenlee because i used to face the same problem too.
please don't give up.
Try again. reduce your water temperature to around 26-28 degree and part your $8 for 10 yamato.
Observe them, it should be ok
