Wow a new sub forum!! Ok let me start with a new thread.

What are the kinds of moss available to hobbyist that will attach itself to what we tie it to? From what I know, Fissiden, Java and Singapore moss will attach themselves to wood or rock that we tie them to after some time, naturally.

    Any other moss?

I am not sure if all moss will attach themselves, that is why I asked. As I am quite new to this hobby, most of what I know comes from descriptions online, and some will mention specifically that the moss will attach itself naturally after some time, some moss they never mention so I assume they may not.

For my practise, if it is not known to me that they will self attach, I'll tie with fishing line. If they will, I'll tie with cotton thread and let it disintegrate or cut off after sometime.

Let other bros share their experience with moss on whether they self attach....

I don't think flame will spread as it grow upwards but it will spread abit then attach itself to anything.

Not at all - it's very much worth discussing.

Most attach...but not all do it equally well. Fissidens fontanus is seemingly reluctant to do so - definitely use something permanent like fishing line with that one. In the past I used rubberbands, and in nearly a year, I only had one piece that didn't float away when the rubber bands broke down.

Leptodictyum/Amblystegium sp. don't ever seem to attach for me, but I've seen rhizoids on a wild, possible Leptodictyum I collected.
