u could select a patch cut ard that area and removing it, allow the HG to grow back. though the normal way is simply trimming the top

months [] also depending on the size of the patch you remove.. but trimming them from the top is said to help quicken their growth/propagating rate

as long as the runners are under the gravel you can give them a complete bodak cut, since the new growth comes from the nodes under the gravel.

simon, the growth period should not depend on the patch size, since they grow all over simultaneously. mine took about 2 weeks to grow 2 inches, but they are evenly distributed all over. the advantage of cutting bodak is to get rid of all the old leaves that were left behind when you gave them a trim.

hi folks ... i supposed hairgrass belong to the rossette type of plants and cutting it across will make the leaves yellow and die downward ? Propagation is by splitting only. If it is ok to do it for hairgrass, I wonder can it be done for eelgrass and blyyxa as maintenance would be so much easier.

    Thks.

HG is not rosette, it is a runner much like glosso. every node there will be couple of leaves and roots, then the runner continues. pull some up and have a good look.
