    Hi all, two plants that need identifying. I picked them up from colorful...

    Very red plant for Chinese New Year ...

    the red plant should be Rotala Macrandra (forgot the exact spelling).

    Does the second plant have little tubers/roots in the shape of miniature bananas at the base of it? If it does, it could be the so-called "banana plant" (nymphoides aquatica). The leaves certainly look like what a banana plant would usually send up to the surface.

    If it is a Banana plant, the tubers (banana shaped parts) should not be buried in the soil completely - they may rot - I think.

    I think the 1st 2 ID should be correct:

    1. Rotala Macranda
    2. Nymphoides sp. (no tubers)
