Something to be aware of, not just for this fish but for all.
Fishermen are fast on their way to destroying stocks of Puntius denisonii. Scientists reckon captive-breeding wont reduce the pressure on wild stocks, so is our only option is to stop buying this species?, asks Matt Clarke.

Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
Matt would this include Puntius Chalakudinensis or is it stricktly Puntius Denisoni ?

Hi guys,
I just returned from another India-expedition and I gave a talk in Chennai on native Indian fishes (finalizing a book on INDIA Ornamental Fishes by Heiko Bleher, very similar to my Bleher's Discus volume 1) and I had standing ovation when I proffed them wrong that P. denisonii is NOT endagered at all.
This was just a "want to get known" move of someone who is no on. And the author of the paper publish with that has not even reserached many habitats, just 3 river basins, and I did 27 of them and they ar abundant.
Only P. chalakkudyensis is endemic to only one river.
Besides: In Indonesia they are breeding already 10,000 monthlòy and in Malaysia also many.
Best regards from a colelctor and author, discoverer and photographer, lecturer and scientist,
Heiko Bleher
