my HM and Rotola are turning brown at the bottom...
is it because not enough light reach the bottom of the tank?
HM worst, the brownish is growing and spreading to the top of the plants..

here's the specs I have so far..

    gravels : Lapis
fertilizer : Root Monster, Land plant slow release fertilzer in some part of the
tank, Flourish iron once a week, Easy-life ProFito 2 days once
CO2 : DIY difused using Boyu filter
Filter : small Boyu Filter SP-602F with flow rate at 340L/H
Water change : once a week or once every 2 weeks

I think its quite normal for lower leaves to turn brown or even melt away, if this will make you feel better, some where in an article written by Mr Amano, he recommend using ferns on wood to cover the ugly browning leave at the bottom of the stem plants.

I dont usually recommend sharing lights as technically, illumation is usually lost, or you might not be directing the full spectrum of lights into the tank. Its debatable however. Search for evo's 2 tank scape, we did add comments to his query on sharing 2 lights.

HM by the way is a high requirement plant. Go with either ADA/gex soil for best results.
