    Sorry Jeffrey, couldn't resist but I don't use rainbars for my planted tanks.

    This is your L46 tank?

    I think as long as you have a double tap for the inlet for the Classic and Ecco models, you'd never need to prime your canister if you lock it before dismantling to take the filter to the bathroom for cleaning.
    The P2's has the twin tap lock and works even better.
    I'm not sure about the other models though.
