Nice setup Sherwin. Are you using a chiller? Your Hottonia seems to be growing really well. I used to have some in my tank, but at a temp of 27-28 (using AC fan), they never really took off. I am thinking of giving it another go, so can I buy some from you when you next trim them?
    Thanks.

    Hi Sherchoo,
Thinking of trying out MH light on my 3ft tank, any experience to share using MH with AC fans to cool the tank? Will it be able to achieve 27-28 degree?

    Regards

Thanks folks for the positive feedback. But so far no one has mentioned about my background. I'm using C.balansae and H.angustifolia which I think looks sucky. Anyone has any suggestion for plants for my background that will serve the purpose with minimal maintenance?

    TTL,
Me using Canon A20 which is really lousy. It's not that sharp and the pics taken from this distance are the only viewable ones. Any closer and the focus will be screwed up.

    Dreamgarden,
Have no experince with MH light with cooling fan. But I think it is possible to achieve at least 29 deg depending on your tank's ambient temperature.
    Cheers!!

    Nice tank, sherwin!

I like your combination of plts but you seem to have few fish in there. I would have loved to see an assortment of differently coloured angel fish... say a pair gold/ orange top or marbled back sp. (2 of each kind) just to add colour to the tank. A planted background of Java interpersed w Windelov ferns would create a spectacle but just as you've alluded, maintenance is a major consideration.

I see that you have CO2 fertilisation and that's probably one big success factor for your healthy plt growth. Here's one newbie question - do you have to periodically refill the CO2 in the tank? or does a std CO2 system have a mechanism of extracting CO2 fr thin air. I have fleeting moments of doubts as to whether I will eventually have CO2 fertilisation in my planned tank, mainly because it sounds like a complicated system to me with all the valves, gauges, solenoids, timers, regulators, etc[]

    cheers!

Beautiful tank Sherwin! Really like that left side, where you have the foreground and middleground plants.

Heh....heh...I think lots of people here will be quite glad you won't be taking part in the AQ contest []

    Thanks.....

    Eggz,
All canisters needs to be refilled when exhausted. It's not complicatd at all. Juz get the necessary equipment, plug and play. Only minor adjustments is involved to get the correct flow.
    Cheers!!

    Sherwin,

For similar but denser plants to replace your "sucky" bg, try Aponogeton longiplumulosus or A. crispus. The former is dark green and stiffer, the latter light green or brown and more flowy. I think the latter may be better as bg, while the former as a solitary stand.

    Vincent,
I was thinking of Aponogeton species myself. Had in mind A.ulvaceus which may be too high maintenance. Does Teo have any of the plants you mentioned?
    Cheers!!

Teo's has A. longiplumulosus. I was actually looking for A. crispus, but they got me the wrong plant... after seeing the picture. [] Not sure if they have A. crispus. Asking Teo himself is a safer bet.

I think I saw lots of short A. crispus at PE-WE in joo chiat just now.

I think I know which you're refering too...... I think the A. longiplumulosus has somewhat semi transparent leaves which is grown at his pond near his farm entrance, yes?

Didn't see those. I got bulbs from them. I have both plants, you can pop by my place to see if you want.
