the pitta is more co-operative in the evening when there are much lesser people/photographers around.

it stayed out in the open for at least 15 mins sessions, like that still cannot get better pixs....i also dont know what to say liaos...

Wow Mervin, beautiful Blue Wing Pitta! This bird not very common, but recently hearing of more people seeing it. Good for our ecology. Where did you see it, may I ask?

Yes Paul, shot it at SBG Ginger Garden.

Its rather easy because of people traffic (compared to other places, they are very very shy) and its been conditioned by tons of photographers who have been feeding it with meal worms.

Perhaps you should go with Richard tomorrow to look see before it boards a SQ flight for home !

Saturdays are usually packed at SBG. Sigh... now with 3 kids, I no longer have the luxury of heading to field trips like before. Hiazz.....

There are tons of species at SBG. Really wonderful "all-in-one" place for birding. Another few birds to spot are the Magpie Robin (They have a wonderful call), Banded Woodpecker, Common Flameback, Coppersmith Barbet, Stork Billed Kingfisher, Purple and Grey Herons, Little Egret, Chinese Pond Heron and Yellow Bittern. I've also had the privilege of seeing a Common Buzzard before, and on occasion, the brown Shrike.

Its amazing to think that these birds all pass through SBG at some point.

Also the sunbirds (olive-backed, brown-throated and crimson), various parakeets/hanging parrot, hill mynahs and flycatchers. There was a Changeable Hawk-Eagle (dark morph) hanging about above the rainforest yesterday also...

Wah.. Siberian Blue Robin is very very very rare! Never see before yet, except in my bird book.

Tried already lor... but... not very successful when all they wanna do is feed the fishes and ducks...

To the point where I "gave up" and sold my Swarovski spotting scope a couple of years back.... Dunno if I will regret it next time.
