I finally got the Pitta! Shot this on a hot Sat afternoon from 2 to 5 pm.
Shot about 250 pictures using RAW. I only liked about 10 % of it.

Steady lah Brudder ~!
For the 1st pix, a little more space for the top and bottom would be more ideal.
And the bird should be place more on the left.
3rd pix- bird more to the left too.
ANyway I feel that 1st and 2nd pix can be further improve with a round of sharpening.
Hope you dont mind.

congrats trident, how far from the subject were you?
I like the exposure on the first 2 pix, but I don't like your sharpening. you mask and blurred the background? mervin's sharpening looks much more natural even though the artefact is quite clear especially in the background. actually I still prefer the first pix (in terms of sharpening and artefact) however I am not a sharpening junkie.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Nice shots Richard but I do agree with Choy on the sharpening and bg blurring. The bg is fine!
Too much sharpening makes the shot look gritty and the highlights over contrasty plus loss in tonal values.
Hope you don't mind but this about as far as I'd go. Then again it's personal taste.

Richard,
I agree that your sharpened post looks a bit weird. Did you do any blurring before sharpening? I think a lot of the details on the birds and the background are gone. The details on the birds are important. Try to only blur the background.

Stan, Choy, Paul,
Thanks man, need all the advise I can get, that's the main thing about
forum. So many people to share their knowledge.
The bird was about 5-6 meters from us.
I blur the background just for a lark hehe
Great job Stan
