try SAE, they are hardworking, when not lured by fish feed.

You can actually remove alot of hair algae manually by using a toothbrush. It's very effective... give a try.

is there any indigenous fishes that might be interested in hair algae? perhaps the two spot rasbora and common barb? how about the Spanner barb?

incidentally, I have hair algae growing at the base of my hairgrass forest. I find my SAE struggling to swim down (head first) to reach the algae, and also find both the Boraras maculata (pygmy rasbora) as well as exclamation point rasbora swimming amongst the hairgrass and pecking at stuff. Could they also be snacking on hair algae?
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

why not prevent Hair Algae or algae problem ?
Other than algae eating fish/shrimp, put some floating plants to your tank, i've no algae problems with my 2ft riccia tank, 5 months old now, so far no scrubbing on the tank yet.

    cheers

I do agree that solving the algae problem is the best thing to do. In the mean time, one should also try to remove algae either via algae eaters and manual removal.
