AQ x ADA Singapore Aquascaping Contest 2009
Contest Period
Now till 15th April 2009
Subject
Only freshwater planted aquariums are allowed for this contest. In case of open type aquariums, only the underwater portion will be judged.
Entry Requirements
• All members of AquaticQuotient.com are welcomed to the contest.
• No submission fee is required.
• We hope to see unreleased work produced by members for this contest.
• Each member is allowed to submit a maximum of 1 (one) layout for this contest.
• Every submitted entry will be automatically submitted for ADA IAPLC 2009 by ADA Singapore. Participants can choose to opt-out from the automatic submission.
• The use of non-aquatic plants will be judged unfavourably.
• Please take a picture of the whole aquarium from the front side. (The picture taken from an angle or one showing only part of the tank will also be judged unfavourably.)
• Photos which are deemed heavily edited using photo editing tools will be judged unfavourably.
• Tanks from previous ADA IAPLC or AGA or other forum organized competitions will be judged unfavourably.
Application Submission
• All members are to send only PM to the account AQ-ADA-2009 to register for contest with the following details:
• Members can start submitting their entries from 15th February 2009 to 15th April 2009 to contest_2009@adana.com.sg.

• Photo size should be at least 3.5MB and in JPEG format.
• Judges and members and relatives of Biotope Services Pte Ltd are not allowed to enter the competition.
Judging criteria
Artistic Impression points (100 points)
Creativity (20 points)
Composition/Arrangement of plants (20 points)
- Overall completeness of the layout and its originality are evaluated. The use of non-aquatic plants becomes the subject of points deductions.
Balance between the fish and the layout design (20 points)
- Is the composition of the layout well-developed?
- Are the aquatic plants appropriately positioned within the aquascape?
- Is there a balance within the layout in terms of the colours and shapes of aquatic plants?
Natural Atmosphere (20 points)
- Creator’s choice of fish for the layout is evaluated.
- Are the colours, size, swimming method and ecology of the fish suitable for the layout?
Aquatic plants’ conditions and Time Progress essence of Layout (20 points)
- Does the layout clearly tell you the creator’s idea of nature?
- How is the method and technique that the creator used, render a natural feel in the layout?
- The condition of the aquatic plants in the layout is evaluated.
- The time progress of the layout based on the types of plants used and their conditions are evaluated.
- Is the layout maintainable over a long period of time?
Contest Result Announcement
All contest entries will be judged impartially by the following judges:

• StanChung (moderator for Planted Tank Section)
• ADA_SG (ADA Representative from Singapore)
Results will be announced on the forum on the 22nd of April 2009.
