Hi All,
What is the minimum nos. of shrimps can be kept in 25ltr/6gal tank?
Can I mixed variety of shrimps in one tank? Let say, 3 types - total abt 10pcs.
Tank specs:
25ltrs - 40x25x25cm
Temp: 25 deg (clip-on-fan) - 12hrs
Lighting: Philips Tornado Cooldaylight 12W x 2 + 9W B&W hood lamp - 12hrs
Subtrates: GEX (Black - Plant & Shrimp)
Flora: Dwarft Baby Tears & Micro-grass
Filter: HOB

bro any pic of your tank to show?
any reason for just leaving the fan to run for just 12h?
my tank is the same size as your and have been leaving the fan on 24/7
Hi bro,
Sori bro, no pic available for my current re-scaped tank. Previous set-up was like experimental only. With CO2 injection, iron supplemtn & 8W OSRAM lamps, the grass & fern grew very fast & tall, didn't bother to trim cos just want to see how fast they grew & spread. Had CRS during that time. Surprisingly I had 7 shrimplets from the 10 CRS.
After reading & learn from this forum, decided to re-do the set-up, just few rocks & carpet flora. So now everything was kind of 'new'. I believe the tank has re-cycled cos I re-use the same subtrates. After 1 month leaving the filter running, just water & used substrate, I could see some fine white-worm wriggling/swimming in the tank. Early Feb I decided to add the flora & pump the CO2 back (DIY - yeast & sugar stuff). Upgraded to 12W x 2 bulbs (current spec now).
Ya, the light & fan been running 12hrs 24/7 on timer, cos I believe the flora would do well in cool temp. After 9pm, lights & fan go off. Next morning I notice the temp would only rise 1 deg, and by then the timer kick-on again & the temp drop back to 25 deg, constant.
How's/What's your setting?
ok.. my tank is just normal black quartz as gravel and have 6 pcs of thick and mature mosh on mesh.. look like a jungle for my shrimp and some pebbles with nana by the size..
running with just ef-05 boyu canister filter and 5w clip on light..
fan 24/7 and light around 6 hour a day..
i will advise against co2 input in shrimp tank actually..
Hi bro,
The CO2 injection is for the plant. I know that CO2 can effect the pH in the water, I experienced it during my 1st set-up. I used (DIY - yeast & sugar) so when the bubble became lesser the pH changed and when I injected a new CO2, next day I found 1 or 2 shrimps died.
So now I prepared a new CO2 to replace before the old one run out, probably this way there won't be any changes in the pH... I hope...
ok.. good luck.. do post a picture if there is a chance to.. then we can compare.. as for the mixing of shrimp.. i do not think it will be wise in a long run.. as different shrimp may require different water perimeter to strive in.. and you will get weird shrimp if they do cross breed.. just my 2cents..
Bee and CRS will crossbreed.
Hi Beetroot,
thanks for the chart...
