very good series of spiders from up north.
looks like your trip is not wasted
Shot these when I was in Penang. There's a place where these are common. They are sometimes also called step ladder spider because of the ladder like web they build around an inch off the tree bark. On the bark itself they usually sit on a silken cup. Because the color of the silken cup (which is white) match the abdomen of the spider, they are pretty well camouflaged. From far you may mistake it for a patch of lichen.
This guy is found not far from the female, can someone confirm if this is the male?

Hahaha ... many people feel the same way about them. I used to. They're those animals that's always on the borderline. Some like them some have bad feelings about them. But they're just doing what is natural. And they're not even pest, they kill pest. So now, I love them. I still really hate roaches tough because they're such pests.

I was in Penang for Chinese New Year, but just visiting is very boring for the kids. So every now and then must bring them to the park and play. At least that's the excuse I give to my wife. Hahaha!!
Kena bitten-ar? Hmm ... don't know what will happen. I don't think this spider poison is lethal. I'm more scared of those things that come out at night like centipede, scorpions and snakes.

My goodness...your spider shots always give me the creeps...
