    hi
i recently added a small co2 reactor (inline pvc tube type, co2 provided by 2 * DIY yeast tanks producing 1 BPS co2 each) to my small 35 litre planted tank.

I added a boyu c1000 internal pump to force water into the reactor which works well, however the pump heats the tank by 3 degrees (i.e. instead of 25-26c, i am now 29-30c). After about 3 days, my moss is looking a darker color now...

my filtration is powered by eden 501, and i read some AQ posts explaining that adding an inline co2 reactor to the 501 may not be a good idea as although it is rated at 300gph, it may slow down between cleans due to clogged media.

I checked some shops and external filters are quite big and expensive (many are of comparable price to the eden 501).

what is a good solution for my predicament?

in order to keep the temperature down, should i go with:
    - an external pump (25-50 SGD)
    - another eden 501 (similar price to above) without filter media (also acts as a backup filter)
    - another alternative i had not thought of yet...?

    cheers,

For small tanks, using air stones, diffusers, flippers will be enough.

I am using pressurize CO2. I had tried using an internal reactor for my 30cm cube. Mixture is good. But it takes up too much space. Took the internal reactor out and use a diffuser. CO2 mixture is acceptable.

I have an external reactor running on my 2ft tank. Flow rate decrease significantly after 2 months.

For you case, I would suggest using a flipper.

for DIY CO2, flipper is the best. It won't have enough pressure for diffuser, it will take quite sometime to build the pressure before yo can see any bubble coming out from diffuser. Since you are using EDEN 501, you can feed directly to the filter, it has anti airlock mechanism.

    hi.
thanks for your advise. can you explain in more detail how I can feed my yeast produced co2 directly to my eden 501 filter? Is generating enough pressure an issue with this method?

so what I did is just drill hole on the rubber hose (inlet) and connect the CO2 tube to it. This method may cause airlock and spoiled if the filter do not have anti airlock mechanism.

By the way make sure the hole is under water.
