Now that's a tough one!!! It's beyond me....
I shall now have to retreat to my mountain tortoise cave in White Cloud Minnow Mountain in a southern hillstream province of China and meditate under a Boh tea tree to ponder the immeasurable profundity of this existential dilemma.
It is a two feet by 1 feet by 1.5 feet tank
2ft use 2x36W is more than sufficient

[:0] Your tank is approximately 20 gallons in total capacity. Which means you will need 60W to achieve 3W/gal. I would consider 2x36W way beyond your needs already. In the interest of keeping heat down, I'd even suggest 1x36W PL + 1x15W FL since your water volume will be about 17 to 18 gals only after subtracting subtrate and the space between water surface and tank lip.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
Actually I'm using 72W too. Temp managed to maintain at 26 in normal room. Just make sure the lights are at least 4 to 5 inches off the water surface.
Then again, I'm also a newbie [:]

If i am keeping riccia or other highlight plants 2 36 watt pl light should enough right
Use 2 x 80mm computer fans blowing direct at water surface. Aboslutely no direct sunlight. Fans running on 9V. Very quiet cos not running at the full 12V. But beware of water evaporation that's all.
