stick to just 3~4 different types of plants. too many, u will confuse yourself.
choose among foreground, middleground n' background plants.
that's a start

hmm, my 2footer got more than 15 species of plants, some act the minor role, some major.
To add depth, maybe the easy one is to hv a high back and low front for the substrate, add woods or stones to uneven the overall view and add some eye catching plants(RED) beside ur largest woods or stones but preferably somewhere near e centre of ur tank for basic scaping.
But its good to plant heavy like 90% of ur tank, fine tune ur plants again for a later date, but in the mean time don't add liq ferts and too high a CO2.
I try to use roughly the same type of leaves plants but different species so tat u can see their behaviour and growth, try the rotala, ludwigia & Estuellais (spell wrong) family for stem. tats wat I do lor... but my family say my tank look funny?[]
Don't bother if its Black cats or White cats, so long as it can catch Rats. Its a Good Cat.
hi
i am new to this hobby and am having a GREEN tank look to my tank cos of the lack of coloured plants in my tank. However i heard that red coloured plants are to grow and need special care. Is it true? if so, what are the extra care needed?
Thanks.
Red plants will generally need more light. Why? This is because their chrophyll ( is hidden under their red pigmentation.
Also, I think red plants tend to favour more iron (FE). Not sure about this, anyone care to comment?
However, I must add that red plant tends to be able to help to bring the focal point to a tank.
Try lugwidga arcuata....one of my fav. after the tiger lotus..
