looks good for a '1st' planted tank. Mine 1st one looked horrible, all plants are still potted and that how 4 x $3 pots of glosso from PS died on me.

What did u use to cover the back wall? how about changing it to those black paper sold in LFS?

Did i see some terrarium plants in there? Can't really name them..

You have some non-aquatic plants in there...do remove them as they would start to rot a few months later.

what kinda of trouble? I went through a sweating effort pasting my background too, the tank is right at the corner.
The one you are using now makes it look messy in a way and I am sure, if we are looking at the actual tank, it might also steal some focus away. These pictures usually has an assortment of plants of varying color hue/tone and will make your tank look like wonderland.

I like a black setting, gives you a spacious feel and allows the focus to rest on your creation.

Mandz...some LFS sell them as there might be people interested in doing terrarium tanks. It always wise to read up and chose your plants before buying them (if they are not available..maybe can order)

    For the backdrop..
    *Not that difficult lar!
This is what I would do....

    1. Spray alot of water onto the back of the tank.
    2. Paste the black paper onto the tank.
(@this stage==> the black adhesive paper should not be sticking to the tank yet)
    3. Grab a ruler to rid the inbetween of the tank and paper from all water and air pockets.
    4. Trim off to size.

    Mandz,

It looks good. How old is it? I like the long twisty wood. It's a bit early to comment on the layout, got to wait for the plants to grow out. But overall, not bad for a 1st attempt.

apart from what the rest has mentioned, I got some thing to comment

think u shld move yr lotus forward, looks its gotta get too cramped up at the present position, especially if its under the mangrove wood... I also agree that the background is super distracting
