Wet the soil to stop them from floating when filling up.
Here we go!
whats that black thingy attached to the airline tubing you are using to fill the tank?
some special weapon?
Cool starting you have there. By the way, what floras you having in there? are you leaving the area covered with sand without any plants?
Cheers,
Keeping.

I am still finalizing the plant list... yeah the idea is to have a clean sandbed with plants on top creating shadows (using single 150W MH above)... but with 1 month left (to the AQ ADA closing date) I don't think I can afford to keep any slow growing plants
oh chey!!! i took one look at the pic and thought it was some sort of special spray mechanism to soften the water impact
didnt realise it was just an innocuous suction cup!!!
but seriously, since it holds the opening of the tubing a short distance above the soil, doesnt the impact of the water hitting the soil at a (albeit low) height stir/mess it up slightly?
why not place the opening directly on the soil?
i am curious 'cause you do get very clear water after filling all the time but even with the water flow dropping onto the soil at a height
anyway, how does the sarawak sand fit into the scape?
or is it meant for another tank?
Looking good Jervis...
Can your next tank be a blackwater tank perhaps?
Currently keeping many wild betta species and other anabantoids.
Let's take a look at my new light fixture Decided to give it a try since it's on clearance sale
This will be my first experience keeping plants under metal halide (150W). Hope I can handle it well since I don't have the luxury of time to explore things
Watch the heat You still got enough time.
Wow, so much more ADA goodness..
Looking forward to seeing what plants you will use.
