Hi guys

I hope I can still make it this year...

To be honest, I am totally clueless with a lack of inspiration this year... all I did so far was to shop online for the necessary stuff. That's all I did

I hope that this thread will help inspire me (and other late comers) to join this year's competition – AQ ADA Aquascaping Contest 2009 and ultimately ADA 2009.

Before I receive all my gears, let's use this "airspace" to discuss things... for a start, how do you guys go around seeking inspiration? Do they come naturally while shopping at LFS?

What I do is to browse through Aqua Journel or ADA setups online. I will barely get into it for 5 minutes and I'll find a setup that inspires me.

I am not pro enough to come up with a setup on my own yet, so this is what I usually do and will tweak the setup that inspires me to my liking.

after coming back from tioman, i feel really inspired by nature

saw a estimated thousand year old tree and the bushes surrounding it's roots. makes me wanna do a scape that mimmicks the tree's roots / bark + the bushes around.. wahahahah... but i don't have the money so maybe i input a bit of my idea here

sadly, no... the camera went haywire just during that part when i was trekking the forest and it went back to normal after i passed the tree

For me, I am browsing through the online pictures of the aquascapes. Though still no inspiration yet.

Am thinking of a balance between Iwagumi and usage of driftwood.

I find that idea can't be force, I just browse around every day and saw any picture that I find interesting

Haha... I'm also looking for inspiration ! Going to start a 3ft tank within the month.

I've been looking at the ADA 2007 and 2008 journals and aquascapes on AQ and other planted forums. I think the scapes that I like number in the hundreds !? Iwagumi... Dutch style... ADA style.. messy style... chapalang style... I see one I like one! What can I say... I'm fickle minded! But I guess that is the problem with people like me with not much creative or artistic talent ! I admire people who can go to LFS... see a rock or wood and know that THATS THE ONE ! I honestly cannot... thats y i end up with alot of useless stuff at home ! Haha... think i gotta organise some sales after i start my 3ft.

Maybe what i need is space and money for 100 tanks... so can try a new scape everyday... no need to worry that the tank come out badly... because u got another empty one to play again the next day

Well, maybe you can buy some Suikei Nature Aquarium Visual Magazine to read up.

Local LFS simply don't put in enough effort to give inspiration Maybe a Japan or Hong Kong trip can help Or take a hiking trip.
