After doing abit of research on Apistos, i guess those two below makes me really want to get them off the shelf! (Please correct me if i got the names wrong, thanks!)

    Apistogramma bitaeniata Mamuri

    Apistogramma elizabethae from Montecristo

    Apistogrmma paucisquamis from Negro

    Apistogramma uaupesi from Barcelos

    Apistogramma diplotaenia

    Apistogrmma sp "Inka50"

Mikhail's Apistogramma bitaeniata "Tefe Bauana" is also extremely beautiful!

    Re: Your Favourite Apistogramma!

Ap. bitaeniata localities don't strictly matter, you can get variations on finnage and colour from all localities, though some rivers do seem to be more steered towards certain colour variants

As for favourite apistos, Ap. bitaeniata is my all-time favourite. Ap. elizabethae used to be a favourite of mine too. Lately, I've become interested in the Ap. iniridae family (including e.g. rotkeil and uapesi) for their awesome finnage

Your picture on the Elizabethae is excellent!

My all time favourite is Elizabethae, Wilhelmi & sp. Tucurui (first pair of apisto i brought in 2000)

Anyway, this hobby is getting more interesting as more & more geographical variants are being discovered.

    Re: Your Favourite Apistogramma!

Hi marle, thanks for your appreciation of my fish and providing this very interesting link.

My favorite is obviously "Apistogramma bitaeniata". They are just stunning with many color variation to choose from. "Apistogramma elizabethae" is my second choice as well... I like the simplicity + elegance it projects. It's good thing that you are doing research first before buying your apisto and choose the one that you really like upfront. All the best .

    A. cacatuoides "white gold" when they look right:

I'll probably buy a pair when they can spawn fry with all the right numbers of fins and eyes.

Thats a very unique looking caca! Btw, Aquarama 2009 is round the corner, will any apistos be showcased there and then?
