Hi there!
To me no method is known except for worsen the water conditions. Theye are known to live only in water of very good quality.
Why do You want to get loose of 'em? They don't harm anything and are interesting creatures itselves.

Lots of seed shrimps after trap removed.

Cheerio, BEASTIE ;-)
CRABS, Crayfish, Shrimp, Land hermits, Mussels & Snails, Dragons, Snakes and more in some 40 tanks
Too many seed shrimps. I just wish to keep them down. Shrimplets may need to fight for food with them later on. I kept 2 Boraras Brigittae in there but didn't help, so i gave them away to a brother here.
Thanks for creating this thread!
I've been searching high and low to find ways to remove them too.
These small little creatures, aren't even cute at all. They are in fact, ugly and really getting on my nerves.
I really hope to remove them as a whole as they breed like nobody's business. If there is an expert out there, please guide us along.
Right now i'm using a small tub to trap the seed shrimps. Tomorrow 10am will be 2 days. I will take some pictures and post them here. Actually first 24 hours, i could see about 20 plus full grown trapped in there. Unfortunately a very tiny shrimplet managed to slip through.
Take a small container, fill it with water and add some ostracoda in and seal / close the container. You will be surprised by their ability to stay alive for months or possibly even years and still be able to multiply without any food added.![]()
Like the sea monkeys? I just dumped the catch after camping for 2 days. Caught 2 shrimplets sakura, 10 over adults seed shrimps and a small army of them. I managed to scoop the shrimplets back to the tank. I will upload the pictures on Monday night. Need to modify the container or search for more ideas.
Trap updated in the first posting. The tank now looks better but still need improvement on the trap. One small plastic container with some aglae wafers then poked a few holes and then placed upside down with the holes facing the gravel.
Hello Guys...
As I have faced problems with it too.. I recently discovered a solution to it. Not sure if it is a good idea..
I added 3 corydoras to my tank. Within several days, most of them are cleared! Which means, I now have a tank with almost no more seed shrimps.
These corydoras burrow around, digging the substrate and eating those unsightly creatures.. haha~ do consider if you are very pissed with these seed shrimps.
HI pal, I tried that before. The seed shrimps will hide and after sometimes they will pop out again. After i tried out the traps and also plus the additional population of shrimplets, i don't really see any seed shrimps any more.
Really? Wow, knowledgeable.. I thought I have cleared them once and for all..
Hmmm, kind of disappointing.. Thanks for your advice !
I like your idea .
thank you.
