Cool fish...but quite tough to get that kind of outstanding colour in local shops.
should be a xanthic morph. I would thought it distracts from the green school. your green looks in excellent condition though.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

all my green tetra have transformed to looked like cardinals overtime. none looked the same the day I purchased from Biotope...duration 4 months.
strange...?
As they grow older, the red stripe will fade. Believe me. Because I have them for many years

You are quite correct. I obtained my first Green neons in 1970 soon after they were discovered.
I prefer Green Neons, P. simulans to cardinals for many reasons, least of all because not everyone keeps them. I have a small school of 25 sharing a US 20 gal long wth a pair of Apistogramma hongsloi and 15 Parotocinclus cf. epplyei, a dwarf 1 inch sucker mouth catfish.
Old fish breeder. SA Dwarf Cichlids, Hypancistrus sp L260, L333 and Peckoltia L134 breeder. Also Sturisoma, Dwarf Corydoras spp, wild Discus and Killiefish. Like breeding Characins and wild Betta spp too.
hi, we kind of share the same niche. green neon and L134
