Morph,
you have to manually remove them... 1 or 2 dead shrimp is fine, but when you have lots of them, your water quality is going to go down quick... you'll know what I mean when you take a whiff of that funky dead shrimp smell coming from your water.
If I were you, I would do a very detailed search of your tank, remove all the dead shrimp, and then follow by a large water change.

oh my god....................... i think i will take a VVVVEEERRRYYYYYYYY loooooonnnnngggg tttiiimmmeeeee........................
err simon any idea wat i can use to siphon them out?? its quite densely planted and quite hard for me to reach the ground..
guess i will do it tomorrow cause today not free man... currently this tank no fishes except ottos and shrimps dont think will have any major problems like algae boom if i leave it there for 1 more day right???
It's more of the Nitrite and Ammonia from the decomposition. That's kill you otos and the rest of the shrimps if not cleared in time.
Use a plant tweezer to remove lah. I've removed hundreds from my 5 ft before. It's not that bad. But if you can't be bothered then take the livestocks out first lor.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
u noe those used for water changing? NH4, No3 will build up fast with decomposition like what Benny pointed out.. IMO, they shld be taken out, in any case
u have a forcep or tweezer? Use it to pick the dead shrimps out.

yup... siphon it out. .. if you are afraid of sucking out the plants, control the outflow my making the outflow hole smaller with your fingers or some kind of tap... i managed to remove all kinds of dirt traped in plants that way, and dead shrimps included!![]

do not do to others what you will not want done to you!
be kind! =)
As mentioned.. siphon the shrimps out with a hose. This way you're removing the dead stuff and doing water change at the same time...... "Killing 2 birds with 1 stone"
