yr tank is going thru the cycling process, it takes time for the biobacteria to colonize... water change doesnt help
hi all planted experts... i need help!!! my newly set-up tank is very cloudy. i tried to clear the cloudiness by changing 30% of water. but it's still cloudy!! i thought my fertiliser was leaking...but i don't think that's the reason for the cloudiness. Pls help!! What's wrong? What did i do wrong? How can i solve the problem?
Someone did mention that it's because of the DIY Co2. is it true??

Thanks for reply!! So how long will it take for the tank to settle down??
it depends... but be patient
It's normal for a newly setup tank to be cloudy. It should clear soon. However, some setup the cloudiness can last up to a month. Since your setup is only a few days, I dun think you should worry abt it. Leave it to cycle.
if you have a heavy living population (besides plants) in it.... you may begin worrying----------------

Errr... where did you get the balck sponge from? The Eheim black sponge is actually carbon or at least meant to work like carbon. Not good for planted tanks. You should remove it.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
thanks for all those reply.... there is no fish in the tank....
the black sponge is not those carbon sponge.... just normal black sponge got bb to grow....
btw the surface of my tank ... there is some werid things ffloating on it....
is that normal????
Describe the wierd things?

Typically for a newly setup tank it will stay cloudy for quite some time... and then quite suddenly it will start to clear. My own setup was cloudy for about 3 weeks... then quite suddenly it cleared in 2 days.
The cloudiness could be due to either bacterial blooms, or particles in your water (if you didn't clean your gravel properly)... both will be handled with proper filtration.

cant really describe the weird things that is floating....it is like oil..but oil will tend to join together..but this one's not joined together into one piece. it's like individual pieces.
now my plants seems to be covered with thread like/spiderweb stuff. wat is that? how do i solve that?
You might wanna check if your DIY CO2 is leaking into your tank... that might be whats causing some problems.
Allen
hmmm it is not leaking.....
so how i solve all those spider web stuff?
if the diy cos leak into the tank.... what should i do?
your fish will get drunk? Buy a check valve to prevent that.

thanks.... then so how i solve all those spider web stuff
the spider web might be some thread algae... not sure how to get rid, perhaps the same way as the rest of the algaes. I would say more frequent water change if your tank is small.
Remove with hands for now?

hai yeh my new planted tank is killing me!!!!!!!!....
really need alots of help!!!!
i will not give up!@!!!!!!
I dun think the furry thing is algae. Could be some sort of fungus which probably be coming from the DIY CO2 solution. The solution could have got into the air line thus travelling in to the water. Dun worry too much, juz manually remove it with a net.
there's slimy stuff sticking onto my plant... which looks ....HMMNNNN......... like sperm sticking to the plant!!!
my water now from cloudy become milky!! What is the sperm like thing?!?!?!?!?!?! pls advise!!!!![:0]
