Simple and effective, i like it. Not going to tie moss onto the wood itself?
Would like to share the process of setting up this 2ft low tech tank measuring 60 x 21 x 23 cm just for Male Endlers. Flora consist of Windelov, Narrow leaf fern, mini nana, and spiky moss. Also giant and normal duckweeds on the surface to block out some of the stong 55w lighting.
Day 1:
Experimenting with the hard scape.
Day 2:
Filled it up with water from another tank and added some Windelov and Narrow leaf ferns. The rock on the drift wood is to help it sink.
Day 6:
Had been tying more ferns on the drift wood and pebbles between day 3 to day 5. Also added some spiky moss, mini nana and pebbles.
Day 10: (today)
Scape is almost complete. Added a handful of giant and normal duckweed. Also more spiky moss were added.
This will remains as a low tech tank with minimal maintenance except clearing the excess duckweedsNo CO2 and will dose seachem flourish once awhile. Fauna will are 4 male Endlers at the moment, will be adding maybe just 2 or 4 more males once the fries grows bigger in another tank.
More pics:
Another view.
The 2 adult males. The one behind is not a female but a fry about 6 weeks old that has not develop his full colors.
Thanks for looking, Comments are definitely welcome.![]()

The canvas is what you make it...
Looks good, the hardscape is very nice. IMHO, the polished pebbles looks a bit artificial though..
Do I see a eden 501 on the right of your tank? I have a tank exactly the same size as yours and used the same filter as well.. but found the flow a bit too slow, maybe because I am using a CO2 reactor.
May I know where you bought your endlers? They're good looking.
Your tank definitely looks much bigger than 2ft... great work!
Thanks. I certainly would want it to look bigger than it is.
Yup went to Wu Hu to have a look and actually bought a pair of so call special breeds. Will post a pic soon.
They were bought from C328 and Polyart last time.
Yup it's a Eden 501, I find that the flow to be alright. Like you mentioned it could be due to your reactor? I am not that sure...
Nope.. Will leave the moss as it is to cover the pebbles.
Bought a pack of 5 Sakura shrimps from y618 today. Guess what after 1 hour's time later? See pic:-
One of the female gave birth!!! Can you spot the shrimplet on the driftwood branch?

One of the sakura shrimp
More Sakura shrimps and one of my male Endler fry is starting to show more colors.
A very nice looking low tech tank....better than many high tech one!
good plant choice and good DW arrangement!
good job!
if you replace those round stone with more natural looking one, this tank will look nicer!
Updated pics:-
Did some minor rescape, cleared a bunch of duckweeds, added my 2 oto back to the tank and changed my filter to a Eheim 2213 classic.
Some other views.
The green eheim inlet is irritating me with it's looks and wordings. Will change to a glass inlet when I visit KS. By the way anyone knows where to get those imitation ada glass inlets other than KS?
Time for a trimming sessionYou can try NA for alternative glassware

wow, did your Windelov and Narrow leaf fern grow that much within a week? or you just added more of them?
looks real good but sort of eating away the hardscape...
really tempting me to do a rescape!
Nice tank. Very green indeed. Thanks for sharing.
With Humble Regards,
