u shld spread yr APP all over the foreground?
u shld spread yr APP all over the foreground?
thanks simon,
trying to do that now, spreading them to the right side of tank.... reserving the left side for 4 color lotus. There's a plantlet there now but think cannot be seen cos of my poor photo-taking skill... heh heh
2 things...
firstly your tank looks very 2 dimensional... in other words, it lacks depth.
secondly it looks far too symettrical... if you draw a line down the middle where your APP is, the right side could be a mirror of the left...
both these thing are to be avoided in most aquascapes

how do i go abt creating depth???
and how to make it less symetrical?? do i need to rescape the whole tank?? major ops then
try reading this link

thanks allen... hope to have a nice tank more to the ones u all have one day...
does it help if i shift all my tall plants to one side or if i shift the space in the middle to the left or right to create more depth??
try to have a combination of foreground plants (your APP will do fine), middle ground and background plants ... this way u will have a contour from low to medium to high and that can create some depth ... moving all the tall plants to one side might not help
... always look at the bright side of life
ic... it seems that my plants are either tall tall one or short short one, so i should go get some middle height plants to balance out the look??----------------

any plants to recommend??? how do i go abt creating dark areas?? plant densely?
u can use driftwood, stack one on top another.. using plants like fern, anubias since they require low light... if u have seen some of Amano's books... he use it quite often in big tanks
think driftwood will be fine since i got loads of it... looking forward to the planted tank workshop so that can learn more..----------------

More plants would definately help improve the look. Also some red colour would give some contrast. I you can, take a ride to Teo's. Walk around and just grab what you want.
actually i have some red plants in the tank... just did some major trimming so they are hidden from view.. ALso waiting for the 4 color lotus to grow.. Actually i'm at teo's every other week----------------
