My guess the CO2 dissolve in the water turn back to gas inside the filter. Just guessing
I recently made 2 changes to my tank setup:
1) Added CO2 via a diffuser
2) Switched from Eheim green pipes to i-flo lily pipes 10mm (using a step down adaptor from 13mm to 9mm for the inlet)
Since the 2 changes, my Eheim 2211 has been "burping" every few minutes. Basically it sounds like it's airlocking and throws out fine bubbles. I've been looking at the inlet pipe, but I don't see any air being sucked in. The connection to the inlet adaptor is also very tight (had to use hot water to get the hoses into the adaptor and now I can't even pull the hoses out).
Any idea what's causing the "burps"? The only thing I can think of is CO2 bubbles being sucked in, but it doesn't seem likely that a diffuser at 1.5bps would mess up the filter like that. I also don't think that so many bubles are being sucked into the filter.
It's my office tank so it gets quite annoying having to listen to airlock sounds every few minutes

Looks like I may need to get myself one of those ISTA mini reactors if that's the case The only problem is reliability since I hear they leak and I can't have a leak in my office tank
alternatively, do you think switching to a 2213 for my 1 ft cube would solve the problem? It would involve an additional step-down for the outlet lily pipe though
how about inline diffuser? put at the outlet pipe. By the way you can remove the strainer, inside is a hose connector. The picture does not show it.
2213 probably too powerful for 1ft cube. I use it for my 2ft Iwagumi which in my opinion just nice.
does it come in 9/12 size? Otherwise I'll need to step up and then step down the hose.
Alternatively, do you think it could be caused by the hose reducer at the inlet?
o... you are right it doesn't.
fiddled around with the seal + reduced CO2 bps and the burping has stopped. Not sure which one is the cause
My guess is the seal

very simple, increase the bps and see how
Increased bps and the burping started again. Going on the assumption that the cause is the CO2 bubbles getting trapped in the canister and being burped out, am I right to say that I have alot of wasted CO2 and I can safely reduce the bps till there's no more burping without compromising my plant growth or inducing algae?
I preferred to have drop checker to check it.
I was guess CO2 because it is like when you shake soft drink, all the dissolve CO@ turn back to gas stage. The turbulence inside the filter causing it to turn back to gas so it is not necessary tell you enough CO2. Again , just guessing
Long weekend so I guess I'll test more next week. I think the fluctuating CO2 levels when I test will cause algae
as long as your fluctuation above 25ppm, should be ok
