    i've never really had a PL light b4 just FL, and i want to know if a standard 2x36w PL is actually 2 SEPERATE 36w PL's or joined together. which means is it 2 seperate hoods or just one?

    Ummmmm... when we say 2x36W PL or 4X36W PL or nX36W PL, we don't usually care if its all in one light set (or hood, as you call it). Just an indication of how many PLs are needed.

    Usually, the light sets contain one, two, four 36 pls, depending on size. I DIY converted two 6ft light sets from FL to contain six 36W PLs each.

    e ballast - electronic ballast for PL or FL without using starter, produce less heat, lighter and lights on without flicker.
    normal ballast - need to use starter different way of wiring the fl or pl, very hot, lights will flicker for a while when turned on
