Don't keep plants then.....CRS keeping folks are kinda paranoid bunch and needs more read up of real facts then just based on myths being spread by old timers who may or may not have any idea at all what they are saying.

hi all,
recently my newly setup tank is showing signs of this algae, from my research it should most probably be hair algae. (ID needed)
any livestocks will help me clear this type of algae? will Octo eats this?
i have CRS in my tank, therefore chemicals or fast fish or shrimps are highly discouraged.
your help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Are you refering to otocinlus? Otocinlus will not feed on hair algae. Manual removal is the only option in your situation. You need to look at your CO2 (more) and light duration (less).

Otos are good (only in numbers) for film/brown algae on the glass. Yamato are know to eat hair algae.
