FYI. Seachem has changed the formulation in the Equilibrium.

I am having the old formulation:
    K: 18.9%; Mg: 4.3%; Ca: 2.7%; Fe: 0.47%; Mn: 0.08%

The dosage is 1 tbsp to 10 gal to increase GH by 3°.

The new formulation increased the Ca content by reduces the Mg: 8% Ca and 2.4% Mg

The dosage has also changed to 1 tbsp to 20 gal to increase GH by 3°.

Superb! Now my $ goes twice the distance as for as this is concerned.

I think the K % is more or less the same. So you will be increasing more GH but same K level. So if you get 3GH you will probably get 40ppm instead of 80ppm.

Yes, the new one raises the K by 65ppm, as compared to the 80ppm of the old one.

    bclee,

Thanks. I was at Petmart at Serangoon few days ago but I did not see any Equilibrium.
    1) May I know where I can find it and how much it cost approx.?
    2) How much does the container contain (in g?)?
    3) How to differentiate the new and the old?

    Thanks in advance.

That's fine by me.... the K is more then enough. It's just that I can dose half the amount to get the same GH. But now that I've offloaded my work from my brain... I'm wondering if I've been using the old one or new one. ARGGHHHH... go home check.

but what about Mg level in itself? even if Gh is maintained but will the drop in Mg % mean anything in terms of available Mg fert for plants? Cuz I'm considering Epsom Salt vs seachem equilibrium.

Juz checked my version of Equilibrium... luckily it's the new one.

    HopHip,
    Epsom salt = K2SO4 rite.
I'm dosing this together with the Equilibrium to achieve 20ppm of K. Equilibrium is for mainly dosing of Ca and Mg.
    Cheers!!

Just wondering do we still need to dose K since this Equilibrium will get you 80ppm ? Just a thought...

Everything should be made as simple as possible...but not one bit simpler.

    wrong
Epsom Salt. Chemical Name: Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate.
    Chemical formula: MgSo 4 · 7H 2 0
It is used for the addition of Mg

When I dose Equilibrium I can go without additional K addition.

Generally plants need the higher Ca:Mg ratio... maybe 5:1 to 8:1. The new formulation seemed to cater for that. Additional Mg should not be neccesary.

When I am using the old formulation, I do get an occasional symptoms of Ca deficiency.

sher: heh... epsom salt is MGSo4, have you been overdosing till now?? [] Actually I really wonder why pple need to take MgSo4 supplements for? quite gross to eat stuff like that.

Just wondering how come the formula percentage doesn't add up to 100%?

cos there are other filler stuff. similar to those panadol tablets.though each tablet weighs maybe 2-3 grams, the paracetamol content could be only 500mg.

anyway, ingredients are normally in compound form, ie for k, may come from k2s04, k20, kcl, ...etc. what is listed is just the percentage of k. there are chelating agents to stabilise the concoction.

All those listed are cations... don't forget about the anions.
