Juggler's tanks
nice wild tank u got there
I dun think Yahoo allows links to the pics.
Anyway, your tank looks very errr..... as Simon said, WILD. You might want to trim the plants in front to keep it low esp on the left side.
Care to share your tank parameters like lighting, CO2, fert, tank dimensions, age of tank, pH/kH etc
Ohh.. your light looks quite interestin... can you tell me what you're using and where you got the stand....
From your pics, the lights seem abit to near to the water surface, don't you think so?
Regards
Ermh...Can you share with me the lighting you are using? Hehehe...looks kinda yellow to me...Metal Halide huh?

Hi,the lamp rack,i got it from Ikea..$9 each
I using those screw type of power saving bulbs for the lamp.kinda bright and econimic coz 18watt can produce 100watt brightness(correct me if i am wrong)]
Also using two 2ft FL tubes
Age of tank- 6 months
JBL substrate and liquid fertilzer
substrate--those $10/pack sand from petmart
C02 cylinder with soloneid(1bps)
filter--astro external filter(the smallest model)
ph- 6.7
temp- 27-29
The rest i din measure..heehee
Yaya,i oso think that my tank is kinda wild..coz din haf much time to trim them..will do something abt it soon..
When there is water, there will be fish
kekeee, we do not consider " 18watt can produce 100watt " as 100watts but only 18watts.. so yr tank is pretty low
should i get 2 more 2ft FL tubes then??
bt i see bubbles on my plants..is the lights sufficient??
When there is water, there will be fish
wats yr tank dimension? supposing u have 2x18watts.. abit low for a 3ft.. even my 1ft cube uses 23watts.. as for the yellowish tint, I think its due to the bulb in question.. r they daylight tubes? or 6000k? for those interested in these kinda lights, GE do have 20watts PL (screw) 6500k
Hi Simon, sorry to interrupt. I always wanted to ask about those 18w bulbs that says can produce 100w brightness. If it is brightness that we want to give to the tank, why such bulbs are not considered producing 100w ?
in PL and FL, I hardly or never seen tubes with that kinda of step up in wattage comparison, but i believe, its a estimate of brightness rather than actual wattage equivalent.. mabe my explanation not very clear or if someone who knows the reason behind it
Actually it was only today that I saw in Carefour that there are such tubes. Its like PLC tube.
And looking at Derek's tank, seems like he has been doing well with the lightings for the past 6 months.
I think it worth finding out more. These tubes will drive down the cost of lighting for in big tank setup, if it is proven OK for planted tank.
The comparison is actually between florescent light and indescet light. Juz a gimmick if you ask me.
nice tank u have there ... very very nice ... but i think very hard to maintain right ? the algae ... my sch 6 feet planted algae boom untill cannot see the plants ...
its not hard to maintain..i seldom maintain one..i tink i onli trim every 3 weeks..
ur sch is sp??
