Guys I'm back with new project to feature!

My first attempt in keeping crabs actually

This is by far the most informative thread on Vampire Crabs I can find on the net.

Here's how the tank looks like. It's a 1ft cube with used ADA soil.

Based on my research... these crabs have individualistic habitat preference.

Some like it high and dry :eek:



Some like it wet and scaly

They enjoy frozen blood worm and Hikari Crab Cuisine



They practically eat everything... so the challenge is how to provide them enough calcium in their diet.

May I make suggestion anyway? You should give Your crabs a real land part – where they can dig a burrow. For a while Your setup is quite okay, and some individual crabs like to stay in or at the wet part. But others like it more dry and especially the females like it to stay in their burrows during brooding the eggs. There are several possibilities to engage a real land part in Your aquarium – as substrate we generally advise "terrarium humus" because it doesn't mould and is diggable.

It looks more like a territorial fight. How many males and females do You keep in Your tank?

Nice setup Jervis. Any plans for a small mini filter in the wet area? I think that would help keep the water quality high. When I was messing around with frogs I realised that stagnant water is not a good thing.
