    Hi there.
I'm having difficulties getting riccia grow in my 3" tank.
The tank is equipped with chiller, jebao cannister filter, as well as CO2 flow.....

The riccia seems just die off after 2 weeks.....

Is the water flow rate affect their grow?

    Please help to advice....

    Thanks.

    Bro,
What is your lighting wattage and how many hours of light period.
As you mention in your post you already got all the requirement for your tank, no reason riccia will melt because they can grow even in a low tech tank
Maybe you can provide here more information of your tank spec

btw, if you still need ricca to do another setup you can collect from me this weekend as i am doing a major triming

    Hi Bro.
I'm having Aqua PL-90 model that has 36Wx2.
The duration for the lights on is 8hrs daily control by timer switch.

And at the same time, my Java Moss is turning brown now...

    Any remedy?

    Please advice.

    Thanks.

My riccia (be it floating or tied to a drift wood) face the same issue.
The lights was the same and the Java Moss is turning brown....
Is it due to the duration of the lights ON?

8 hours a day is good timing. Riccia is very hardy plant should not die easily. How about the water temperature?

    Re: Riccia Grow

    Hi Bro.
8 hrs of lighting period are just nice, but 72watt for a 3 ft tank imho is far too low i would suggest you to add another set of lighting of the same wattage.

java moss turning brown it might be still adapting to your tank water condition and are common on a new setup but as you mention even your ricca are melting i think your moss are facing the same fate too

how about your tank temp, co2 dosage (bps) and your fert.
btw i'm good in growing ricca and moss if you need more advise kindly give me a call over at my mobile as some tech part are quite diffcult to expian in words.

    Hi Bro.
    Thanks...
The water temp is at 27deg.
    The CO2 having 5bps.

The only issue was the tank was infected by hair algae previously and terminated with 1 dose of hair algae killer.

Later water was clear every week for that month.
Of course this was with the Java moss inside....

DO you think that the algae killer affects the Java Moss?

    Re: Riccia Grow

arg... that might be the cause. Not sure if large water change will help. If not mistaken riccia and moss is kind of algae cousin

The only thing which not change is the content inside the cannister filter.
I'm considering of changing/clean that over this weekend...

Just hope that this will change the things better.....

    hi bro,
dosing of algae killer are not the main issue of your ricca melting and moss turning brown, i dose alage killer in my 3 ft tank twice a week so far no issue at all
btw feel free to call me at 98139183 for a small discussion, i think i am able to solve your problem.

    Hi there.
After discussion with couple of friendly & helpful guys (thanks guys) suspect would be the water issue, a clean up has done on the filter and the tank.
Due to no water tester available, will probably get one and also place some plants to monitor the grow...

    Hi Bro.

    Sure.....
FYI...I saw some new grow of the moss which place on the Sunday evening.....
Need to confirm the new grow is real or due to the aftermath of my Cherry Shrimp......

    Thanks

    Hi there.
Suspect would be the pH and lack of nutrients.
Don't have the tools to measure the exact pH etc....

Would need a bit of time by monitor the plant grow.....

    Thanks and will updates frequently.

    Hi bro.
Just got the measurement out on the GH Test Kit.
    The outcome is very bad.....
The data is way out of the chart....which I think why my riccia melts..

Will do a complete change of water.

    Hi there.
Just finished my water parameter measurement.
Now the water KH & GH is in the average zone.

Next phase is to monitor the plant grow.....
