    Hi bros and sis.

About a few weeks back i purchased 2 red guppy pairs from C328.
Recently the females dropped and i have like close to 20 fries.
Had bad experiences last year when i saw females eating the fries.
So this time round i feed quite alot. Crushing the flakes so the babies can eat and dropping liquidfry daily.
About the first 2 - 3 weeks, the bioload is manageable.
Today, horrible! The fries + parents bioload is too much.
Did close to 70% WC, sucking the droppings out. No use. only like ~60-80% cleared. Worse still, small droppings are wedged between the gravel.
I clean my tank once a week.
Gravels I use is those black fake gravel.
    Using sponge filter.
    Tank Size is 1.5ft

Experienced AQers, are there any species I can introduce? Small in size, non-intrusive, yet efficient in clearing at least some of droppings. Feeder shrimps useful?

Or should I clear the gravels. But black gravels are nice.
    Any alternative solutions?

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. I saw some fries which are yellow in colour. Are they female?

Colour is no way of distinguishing sex in guppies. Male and female difference is quite apparant. Check google for sexing guppies.
Also, there are no fish or shrimp that will actually eat fish excrement. The beneficial bacteria in your filters and other surface areas should be sufficient enough to convert the ammonia that the waste creates into less harmfu, but still not good, nitrates. If not, you may wish to increase filtration and reduce your bioload. You should simply net the fries out into another tank...if not available, there are other options you can consider like giving to a friend, but a seperate grow out tank (or a larger tank) would be best.
Currently keeping many wild betta species and other anabantoids.

Well, from my experience with Endlers, which are really similar to guppies, I usually just remove the fry as they appear into a separate grow out tank. If you feel that their still too delicate to catch, leave them for 3 days to become stronger, then remove them.

Some advice too, guppies are highly prolific and it's probably better to separate the fry. Also, try to separate both male and female into different tanks, unless you want them to breed. (Taking into consideration the extra tank you'll need) You can identify males as they start to show colouration and for females, when the gravid spot is visible at about 3 weeks of age. Uncontrolled, they can really cause a population boom. Just something to think about.
    Cheers,

just let them breed..my boss had a guppies tank and every wk we have new members but guppies are realu gutton.

they can eat almost every hour and imagine over the wkend when no feeding was done. we can literally count whose the lucky one who survive 2 days of onslaught by the adult females

theres at least 5 batches of newborn but overall only like ten survive and reaching adulthood now..i witness the massacre before and was totaly 0_0 cruel at its best

maybe u can try clory or loaches....
best is to get a external breeding tank.
designed in such a way that the fries will swim over the other partition and unable to swim back to the female.
