I will go for corydoras and/or loaches at the bottom.

For a 5ft tank, you can also consider rainbow shark! But preferably keep 1 only as they are terrorital with their own kind.

Do consider the plants you are keeping in regards to what bottom fauna you intend to have. As most bottom dwellers are capable of uprooting plants as they roam about the bottom seaching for food.

If you want them to school try to avoid this

    Medium: Cardinal (50pcs) , Rummynose (50pcs)

Stick with one type or they'll look messy when they mix together. You might want to get a small shoal of 6-12 pcs of another type of tetra like pencilfish as their behavior is different.

You can also look at 'showcase' fish like discus, rams, apisto or rainbowfish.

Whiptails aren't shy so you can consider them as algae eater and conversation piece.

A school of corys are also interesting but will
dig up your small or new plants.

Hmmm.. For the bottom you could consider Khuli Loaches and I have to agree with Bryan.. 2 Schools of shoaling fish don't really look that great together. Brown / Golden Pencilfish work really well. A few Otos and Horned Nerites would be nice too.

    Hi Stormydax,

Please let me know if you eventually bought both rummy nose and cardinal ya?

Interested to find out if they school together, or separately. (Understand some species of tetras will school together as one!)

    Thanks!
