Hi guys, my tenellus doesn’t seem to be growing well. Certain plots are ok while majority of the plots look like hair grass. Very very thin leaves. Wats the deficiency here? Thanks for helping

I had the same problem for my hair grass at the feeding grounds. By chance, I got it over when my filter outlet direction was changed to blow at them. You may wish to try that.

    Note:
If your light is sufficient, the plant will be shorter, about 2~3 inches. They may turn pinkish too.

My guess is Ca deficiency or some macros like N.

Pardon me...I do recall that plants can strip calcium from calcium carbonate for its consumption? Right, therefore there is no need to you to get calcium supplement but just ensure that the water is maintained at a certain KH value.

But then again, I could be wrong... []

Not right... KH is only the measure of carbonate/bicarbonates. The units, though, is in CaCO3 equilivent. But it does not mean it is CaCO3... NaHCO3 is commonly used to raise KH... but it do no contribute to Ca level.

Usuall root tabs contain quite a bit of Ca. You can always check the contents on the labels.

hi my lighting is abt 2.3w/g... a bit on the low side. but some parts of the tenellus are growing well while a majority part grows like hairgrass. could it be that i've planted too much tenellus together? good to separate them more?

Friend, I have a carpet of e.tennelus in my tank. Just to share the experience :
    1. Base fertilizer (I use Dennerle Deponit MIX)is very critical for e.tennelus (also glosso,hydroctyle verticillata,marsilea crenata,eleocharis accicilaris)
    2. I plant one by one using pinchete with 2 cm distance each other so they have chance to get enough light to get running
    3. Make sure that you have enough lighting & CO2 (mine is 3 bps in 150cm tank)
    4. To trigger the running & growth try to drop the tank temp as low as 26'C ,they will love it so much & run very fast
    5. From my experience giving liquid fertilizer such Tropica "Mastergrow" was not really affect them.
    Hope this can help....

a_scape gotta disagree with you on some points.

I dun have base fert. My tank temp is 29-31°C. My E. tennelus is growing like weeds.

What I'm saying is to trigger the fast growth (if the grow seems stuck).....after that you can back to higher temp....
